Celebrate It! Sessions

Little ones have a lot to celebrate! Let’s capture that milestone you are celebrating – a birthday, a holiday, an achievement, soon becoming a big brother or sister, or your little one just being themselves. These sessions can be done in studio or on location. For the studio sessions, backgrounds are kept subtle and simple to keep the focus on them. Add balloons, confetti, or other things to capture their personality. Celebrate their birthday! Celebrate a holiday! Celebrate becoming a big brother or sister! And how much fun will this be to take it on location! There are so many possibilities and things to celebrate. Celebrate starting school! Celebrate graduating! Celebrate a sport you love! Celebrate an achievement! Can’t wait to do these fun sessions! Visit my Investments Page for more info and my Contact/Book page to book your session.

New Backgrounds!

I just got a few new backgrounds in and have been playing around with them. Can’t wait to use them for my little clients! What is also great about these is that they are a larger backdrops so they can not only be used for cake smashes, but themed set ups for older children as well. I think this background will be very versatile – a night sky with stars, a sky with clouds, or just a pretty shade of blue for setting some great props against. Maybe some white birch trees trunks in front…..can’t wait to try out a few different things. Now I didn’t have much time to play around with this one, but when I look at the colours it screams the beach to me. A few more props to be made and I think it will make a great Beach or Nautical set. White brick I

A Look at How Christmas is Done

The process for choosing a style and building a set for Christmas sessions is a hard one, but I love doing it! Thought I would share the process, as it is very rewarding in the end. Here is what the final set looked like. The challenge these past couple of years was creating something that would be suitable for kids as well as families, as the special has grown since I first started. I knew the general idea of what I wanted – a cozy family room space that was bright and airy. I love natural light, but for sessions throughout the day I needed something that was bight and consistent. I started by creating a plain white room and blocking out most of the window. I left a small space for my fake window čÖé   Once that was set up, it was time for the fun part –

Baby E’s Cake Smash

Baby E’s cake smash session was a great success! She came into the studio with lots of smiles and was eager to get started.  The lavender hoops on the wall were a great addition to the Baby Focused Cake Smash Session that was chosen. Here are a few favourites from her session.         And finally a nice warm tub bubble bath to clean up.

Baby C’s Cake Smash

Celebrating Baby C’s first birthday was loads of fun! One of my first few clients to try out the new Baby Focused Cake Smash sessions – and it was a great success. Baby C carefully explored her surroundings and the tasty treat set before her. The cake topper first peeked her interest, but once she realized there was something even greater beneath it, she dove right in. And just before we wrapped up, a bit more fun splashing around in a bubble bath to clean up!

New Studio Set Option – Baby Focused Cake Smash

I thought it was time to offer a natural setting for cake smashes that really puts the focus on baby. Simple, elegant and organic in feel. You don’t always need loads of decor and background options – baby and a cake is all it takes. It took me a while to decide on a general setting. I do offer standard simple set ups such as solid white or neutral backgrounds – but what if there was a little more to it than that. I wanted a natural feel to it, not a typical studio feel. I thought, what do I do when I want to photography my own children somewhat candidly? Answer – find the best light and tidy a small space just enough to make my home look clean čÖé  So why not have a set that is simple and clean with great light, and may possibly look like

Welcome Baby O

I was so glad to get to meet Baby O. What a sweet little bundle she was! Met at the door by her newly appointed big brother with excitement, he was eager to show me around and show off his new sister. It is always fun photographing siblings with their new brother or sister.    I love shots like these – it’s great to look back and see just how little they are.   I loved photographing you and your big brother. It is great to watch your family grow over the years. Looking forward to seeing you for your first birthday.
