A Typical Newborn Session

It’s always nice to know what to expect and how things work. I thought I would give you a little glimpse into the workflow of a typical newborn photo session from start to finish. A lot of work goes into a session even before the first image is captured. I will work with you to select your colours for your session, any special captures you want and give you info on how to prepare for your session so you and baby are at your most comfortable. It first starts with choosing the colours you would like for your portraits. Some people like to coordinate with nursery colours, some with home décor colours, and others like to just keep it neutral for that classic, timeless look. It is a good idea to take some time to think about what you want to do with your portraits and where you want to

Welcome Baby D

It is so great great getting back into the studio again! It seems like forever since my last newborn session. Now that things are getting back to normal, I am happy to be able to accept newborn bookings again (with covid safety protocols in place). I have missed them so much. And what a great little one I met the other day. So cute – and was the perfect sleepy baby to get back into the swing of things again.  This little guy loved to be wrapped and pretty much stayed asleep though the entire session. He was so comfy and cozy in the little baskets and crates we chose for him.  And big brother was there as well to test everything out to make sure it was perfect for his new little brother. How cute is he! I had a great time meeting Baby D and his family. Looking

Outdoor Christmas Sessions

Like everything else these days Christmas Sessions were done a bit differently this year – and I loved them! Sessions were held outdoors, and I’ve gotta say they were so much fun! I think this may be a new way to offer Christmas portraits in the years to come. We took advantage of an unseasonably warm weekend and it was great even though it was not your typical snowy winter day. I’ll take that over the cold and wind any day. A few Christmasy props and some cheery and happy little ones and everyone got those great shots for their Christmas cards. Can’t wait to do this again next year!

I love doing these sessions and have found many beautiful locations to shoot in around the city. What better way to spend the afternoon than out in the fresh air having fun with the family. The warm light and beautiful colours are gorgeous this time of year! Leaves are always fun to play with! I look forward to fall every year!

Welcome Baby M

I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful new family at their home the other day for a newborn lifestyle session. Everything about her was so sweet. I loved seeing mom and dad interact with their new little one in their own environment. I think it is so special to have these kinds of portraits in your home to remind you of that time when they were so tiny. I think when you look back on these types of portraits they will bring back so many memories of baby’s first few months. Can’t wait to see you again soon!

New Backgrounds!

I just got a few new backgrounds in and have been playing around with them. Can’t wait to use them for my little clients! What is also great about these is that they are a larger backdrops so they can not only be used for cake smashes, but themed set ups for older children as well. I think this background will be very versatile – a night sky with stars, a sky with clouds, or just a pretty shade of blue for setting some great props against. Maybe some white birch trees trunks in front…..can’t wait to try out a few different things. Now I didn’t have much time to play around with this one, but when I look at the colours it screams the beach to me. A few more props to be made and I think it will make a great Beach or Nautical set. White brick I
